I Passed CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure so share my experience

Cisco

Overview

Hi there.
I was able to pass the CCIE EI in July 2022.

I took the test a total of five times.
The first two of those were the previous version and the other three were the new version.

The revised exam is much more challenging than the previous version, with the addition of SD-Access and network automation in addition to the existing scope of the exam.

It was a very worthwhile challenge to be able to pass the exam with very little information available.

Exam History

First of all, let me show you my examination history.

The 2019 and 2020 exams are the previous versions.
At this time, many CCIE candidates were aiming to pass the exam before the revision due to information about the exam revision.
I was one of them.

At the beginning of 2020, labs were closed worldwide due to a new coronavirus pandemic.
Due to this I could not take the exam for the third time and could not pass the exam before the revision.
(Track that is “Dropped” is canceled.)

Here are the second exam scores for reference.

The Troubleshooting and Diagnostics sections were PASS and the Config section was FAIL.
There were some problems that I just couldn’t solve, which affected my other scores and dragged down my overall FAIL.
At the time I thought I was very close to being accepted, but looking at it now, I don’t think I was at the level to pass.

The test revision and the closure of the lab due to the new coronavirus would subsequently cause a setback.
Despite the setbacks, the CCIE never disappeared from the corner of my mind.
I no longer continued to study the CCIE directly, but only continued to gather information.
I was going about my daily life, agonizing over my work, but I began to think that I could not continue without studying.
It was around October 2021 that I began to strongly consider taking up the CCIE challenge again.

Nine months later, in July 2020, I was able to pass the exam.

Without the support and cooperation of my family and company, I would not have been able to work this hard.

Revised Exam Result Digestion

After the revision, I took the exam a total of three times.
I would like to present them along with their scores for your reference.
1st

It was not at all palpable.
However, this first attempt was very effective in preparing me for the CCIE.
I was able to get used to the exam environment because I had the actual exam questions in front of me and I had a full 8 hours to get used to the exam environment.
And I can prepare for the next time I take the exam.
Compared to the previous version, we found the new version to be time-consuming.
Legacy fields are still good, but the new range of SD-WAN, SD-access, and ISE are very stressful because they are GUI based and the response time is slow, unlike CLI.
Facing slow-response GUI operations while being pressed for time can wear on the spirit.
I have learned that it is necessary to practice reliable and accurate operations daily to avoid errors.
I can feel my heart beat faster just by making an error.

2nd
I was quite confident at this time because I had been studying satisfactorily for myself.
I took notes and practiced diligently, trying to recall what I remembered from my first attempt.

To my surprise, I had an hour to spare when Module 2 was all done.
I was able to meet all the requirements and ping between all the sites.

Still, it was unsuccessful.
I was quite depressed when I saw the letters FAIL.
I no longer know what is wrong.

The CCIE is famous for its strict scoring.
Even if your ping passes, you will not receive points for not meeting just one line requirement.

I realized that being able to communicate is a given and that it is meaningless if the requirements are not met word for word on top of that.
Nevertheless, passing module 1 is a significant step forward.
Now, all we need is module 2!

3rd
I scrutinized all the issues from scratch, relying on memory.
I reconstructed from scratch to see if the requirements were met and if the parameters were set as specified.
As a result, I found a few areas that looked suspicious.
However, I am not so sure about that either.
Still, that’s the only place to look as far as the score is concerned.
If this doesn’t work, we have no choice but to revisit and try again and again.

PASS!!
The long examination is over.
I saw the results at home.

“I was passed, I was passed”

I muttered many times.

P.S.
The screen froze during the test.
I was waiting for it to recover if I waited, but the screen went down.
I immediately called a proctor to take care of the problem, but at that time, I kept getting the same message over and over again.

“Don’t worry!”
“No problem!”

He called out to me.
It was restored after the PC was rebooted and did not affect the exam.
It was time for a little relaxation.

Finally

The CCIE is a difficult exam, unmatched by any other certification.
However, if you don’t give up, you will pass the exam.

In this blog, I would like to give advice based on my experience on how to study to pass the exam and how to prepare for the study environment in a way.

Please comment with any questions you may have.
Please understand that we may not be able to answer all of your questions.

Also, if there is anything you would like to know about the CCIE EI, please comment so that we can refer to it in the article.

I will try CCIE Security next.
Thank you.
